About The Pool Center for Health Analytics
Leonard Parker Pool, the founder and first CEO of Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., devoted much of his personal life and resources to improve the health of those who reside and work in the Lehigh Valley.
His vision of health is a driving force behind his legacy – Lehigh Valley Health Network and The Dorothy Rider Pool Health Care Trust. Through the Dorothy Rider Pool Health Care trust, the Pool Center for Health Analytics was created.
While advancements in health care and technology have dramatically improved the treatment of, and mortality rates for people with chronic diseases and other illnesses, the incidence and prevalence of disease and illness have increased in many areas. These disparities are most influenced by social determinants of health - conditions in the environments in which people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age that affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks.
